Melissa R. Cruthirds – Associate Attorney

Prior to coming to the Compass Law Group, Ms. Cruthirds was a trial attorney at The Williams Litigation Group, focusing on family law and personal injury; she was also Assistant City Attorney for the cities of Brunswick and Nahunta and Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Brunswick.  She handled personal injury claims, family law cases, and misdemeanor criminal defense.

Originally from South Carolina, Ms. Cruthirds received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2002 from the University of South Carolina and her Juris Doctor degree in 2010 from the University of South Carolina School of Law.  During law school, she clerked for the South Carolina Senate Judiciary Committee.  Ms. Cruthirds was a paralegal in a general litigation practice for several years prior to attending law school.

Ms. Cruthirds is Co-Chairman of Law Day for the Glynn County Bar Association, Vice-President and President-Elect for the Glynn County Young Lawyer’s Division, a 2014 Georgia State Bar Young Lawyer’s Division Leadership Academy candidate, and Southern District Representative for the Georgia State Bar Young Lawyer’s Division Executive Council.

Ms. Cruthirds is married to Karl Cruthirds, originally from Mississippi and an avid golfer.  They have two dogs and enjoy dining out at local restaurants.  She frequently volunteers for the Humane Society of South Coastal Georgia.
