The Annual Law Day Luncheon was held at The King & Prince Beach & Golf Resort, co-hosted and presented by the Glynn County Bar Association, the Brunswick-Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce, and FLETC/U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Guest speakers included two Assistant US Attorneys for the Southern District of Georgia, Tania D. Groover and E. Greg Gilluly, and Richard T. Duggan, Special Agent, Homeland Security Investigations. This year’s Law Day Theme, Realizing the Dream: Equality for All, allowed for a special focus on fighting injustice, eliminating discrimination and ending other human and civil rights violations such as human trafficking.

The luncheon also included this year’s presentation of the Liberty Bell Award, presented to Debbie Gilbert of Gilbert & Jones Certified Court Reporters.  Through her profession as a court reporter and her dedication to those she serves and her community as well as her family, friends, and church, she demonstrates what it means to be a good citizen and how to honor the rule of law in our community. Debbie has been a court reporter for 35 years.

The Liberty Bell Award was established more than 40 years ago by the American Bar Association to acknowledge outstanding community service. It is typically presented by the Glynn County Bar Association to a person who has promoted better understanding of the rule of law, encouraged greater respect for law and the courts, stimulated a sense of civic responsibility, or contributed to good government in the community.
